Hyper-Realistic 3D Paintings of Sea Animals

Disturbing Octopus on my plate!

What looks like live fish and octopus in soup bowls, are actually photorealistic paintings by Singapore-based artist K. Lye. The artist paints the fish layer by layer, pouring resin into a bowl and painting it with acrylics, with the sandwiched slices revealing more and more of each creature. To bring realistic technique to another level, Lye added protruding objects like pebbles and egg shells, and painted on top of them. Alive Without Breath does make for a pretty accurate name of the series!
